The 10 Best Car Dashboard Cleaners
1. CarGuys Super Cleaner – Best Overall
CarGuys Super Cleaner is still a relatively new product, having only been on the market for a couple of years. But in that time, it has developed a well-earned reputation as being the best car interior cleaner available on the market.
It is formulated to clean a wide variety of interior car surfaces including upholstery, fabric, canvas, leather, vinyl, plastic, rubber, metals, wood trim and more.
As a dashboard cleaner, CarGuys Super Cleaner can’t be beaten. It won’t leave any residue on your dash, nor will it leave an unnaturally shiny surface, and we particularly like that it doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals that can damage your car. Overall, we think this is the best dashboard cleaner for cars we have reviewed this year.
- Multi-surface cleaner
- No greasy or cloudy residue
- Comes with a free cloth
- Has a pleasant scent
- None
2. Turtle Wax ICE Premium Interior Cleaner – Best Value
Turtle Wax has a reputation for producing good quality products at very reasonable prices, and they’ve hit the mark with their ICE Interior Cleaner. This product is a great multi-surface cleaner and is easily our pick for the best car dashboard cleaner for the money.
It is a quick and easy to use dashboard cleaner that is suitable for use on plastic, soft vinyl, leather and composite hard surfaces. It is useful in removing both dust and satins and won’t leave behind a greasy film or artificial shine.
While not quite to the standard of CarGuys Super Cleaner, we were impressed by this product and particularly liked the fact that it won’t streak or smear on glass.
- Price
- Multi-surface cleaner
- Pleasant scent
- Doesn’t smear on glass
- Not as effective on tough stains
3. KevianClean Interior Defence Dashboard Cleaner – Premium Choice
If you are looking for another choice of premium dashboard cleaner, you can’t go past this one from KevianClean. It is a fantastic product that delivers quality streak and residue-free results and will leave your dashboard with a natural low-gloss finish.
Like many of the dashboard cleaners that we’ve reviewed, it’s suitable for use on a range of interior car surfaces including vinyl upholstery, plastics, leather and other composite hard surfaces.
We’re also particularly impressed with the fact that this product uses bio-based, natural ingredients, and is free of dangerous chemicals and toxic fumes.
- Premium multi-surface cleaner
- Streak-free
- Pleasant scent
- 60-day money-back guarantee
- Price
4. Meguiar’s Ultimate Interior Cleaner
If you are looking for a safe, easy to use product that will both clean and protect your vehicle’s interior surfaces, you may want to consider Merguiar’s Ultimate Interior Cleaner.
All you need to do is spray and wipe it away, and you’ll be left with a durable, clean and non-greasy finish. This dashboard cleaner is safe to use on all interior surfaces and so is also useful for cleaning steering wheels, centre consoles, door panels and other hard surfaces.
The only negative thing about this product is the smell. While most of the products we’ve reviewed have a pleasant floral odor, this one has a distinct chemical smell, and you may want to air your car out for a few minutes after you finish cleaning with it.
- Safe on all surfaces
- Non-greasy finish
- Easy wipe-on, wipe-off cleaning
- Price
- Smell
5. Chemical Guys Total Interior Cleaner & Protectant
This product from Chemical Guys is one of the most popular interior car cleaners on the market, and much of its success is related to its low price and versatility.
It cleans and protects most interior car surfaces and is safe for use on dashboards, leather, vinyl, cloth, carpet, plastic, wood trim, chrome, rubber, and more. Meaning you don’t need to spend time or money looking for a range of different products as you can use this one on almost anything.
It has a formula designed to help to prevent UV damage, meaning that using it will both clean and protect your interior car surfaces. Importantly, it also wipes clean with ease and leaves no greasy or oily residue behind.
- Incorporates UV protection
- Multi-surface cleaner
- Non-greasy finish
- Price
- Not effective on tough stains
- Not suitable for use on LCD screens
6. TriNova Premium Dashboard Cleaner
TriNova’s Dashboard Cleaner is another easy to use, wipe on/wipe off cleaner that also doubles as a UV protectant. It is suitable for use on vinyl, plastic, leather and rubber, which means it can be used on most interior surfaces.
Having a UV protectant within the product means that it’s a simple one-step process to both clean and protect your dashboard from sun fading and cracking.
This cleaner also claims to make use of anti-static technology to help prevent dust being attracted to your dash and extend the time needed between cleans. We don’t know how effective this is, but anything that reduces the time you need to spend cleaning your car can’t be a bad thing.
- UV Protection
- Anti-static formula
- Pleasant smell
- Streak-free
- Not effective on tough stains
- Poor quality sprayer nozzle
7. Adam’s 10 Interior Cleaner
If you are looking for a dashboard cleaner that claims to do it all, you might want to consider Adam’s 10 Interior Cleaner. According to the product guide, it is “ANTI-MICROBIAL | ANTI-STATIC | UV PROTECTION | AIR FRESHENER | CLEANER | RESTORER”.
Now, we’re not so sure about you, but when we read about a product that offers to be all things to everybody, the phrase, “Jack of all trades, master of none”, immediately springs to mind. Of course, we could be wrong, but we just don’t place the same amount of faith in this product as its manufactures do.
It will, however, clean your dashboard, and it will do so without leaving any streaks, and you’ll also find it useful for everyday cleaning of all the other non-glass hard surfaces of your car’s interior. However, like several of the multi-purpose cleaners we’ve reviewed, it’s not very good on tough stains.
- Multi-purpose cleaner
- UV protection
- Streak-free
- Pleasant smell
- Not effective on tough stains
8. Carfidant Ultimate Car Interior Cleaner
Carfidant’s Ultimate Car Interior Cleaner is a premium-priced, scent-free cleaner with a safe, PH balanced formula. It is easy to use, employing a simple wipe-on/wipe-off method that is common with these products and will do an excellent job of cleaning your dash and other hard interior surfaces.
This dashboard cleaner is likely to appeal to those with sensitive skin and a need for chemical-free cleaners. It is suitable for use on vinyl, leather, fabrics, upholstery, plastics, metals and rubber and as such can be used on just about any surface in your car.
- Multi-surface cleaner
- Chemical-free natural product
- Non-scented
- Price
- Not effective on tough stains
9. SHINE ARMOR Car Interior Cleaner
The Shine Armor Car Interior Cleaner is a new product that has only been available for about nine months. Compared with other dashboard cleaners, it is one of the more expensive brands, but it is quite useful and provides UV protection to your cars interior surfaces.
It is suitable for use on virtually all of the hard, interior surfaces of your car as well as on vinyl and leather upholstery. One thing to watch is that it is often advertised as being suitable for use on fabric; however, according to the instructions on the bottle that is not the case. While we haven’t tested it on fabric upholstery, it may pay to try it out on a small out of sight patch of fabric before spraying it all over your car seats.
- Effective cleaner
- UV Protection
- Streak-free
- Price
- Not suitable for use on fabric
10. Sonax Dashboard Cleaner
The Sonax product is both silicone and solvent-free and is safe for use on dashboards, instrument panels, door linings, rubber, plastic, vinyl and other interior plastic parts. However, it should not be used on leather, glass, or hot surfaces.
As far as dashboard cleaners go, this brand is quite expensive and is limited to use on hard non-glass surfaces only.
This cleaner won’t leave any greasy or oily streaks on your dashboard or door panels; however, we have read several reports from people who have had issues with it streaking on transparent plastic surfaces.
- Silicon & solvent-free
- Price
- Not suitable for leather
- Not suitable for glass
- Not ideal for clear plastic
Buyer’s Guide – Choosing the Best Car Dashboard Cleaner
When you are looking to buy a dashboard cleaner, there are several different things that you need to consider. These include:
Product Ingredients
Many cleaning products make use of harsh chemicals that can both damage some of the surfaces of your car and be detrimental to your health.
For this reason, you should check that you know how to use the product safely. All of the products will tell you the surfaces they are suitable for—something should check on the product’s label and not just the advertising material.
Some cleaners use all-natural and eco-friendly products, and you wish to consider this when making your choice.
Surface
As noted above, the ingredients of the product will limit the surfaces on which you can use each cleaner safely.
It is also important to remember that different makes and models of cars use different materials to make their dashboards. As such, you should know what you want to use a product on before you make a purchase.
How easy is it to use?
Cleaning your dashboard is something that you’re likely going to do each time you wash and vacuum your car. As such, it may pay to have a dashboard cleaner that is easy to use, as it will affect the amount of time it takes to complete the job.
Many products only require you to spray the on the surface of your dashboard and then wipe it clean with a cloth, but that is not always the case as some others require multiple buffing steps to complete the task.
How effective is it?
Most of the dashboard cleaning products on the market will do an adequate job of cleaning up dust and small stains. However, there are not many that are suitable for cleaning extensive, heavy staining, and you should consider this before deciding upon a particular cleaner.
Conclusion
Hopefully, our reviews have given you a better understanding of the best dashboard cleaners that are currently available.
