Review Summary
Designed for the weekend warrior, Ryobi’s TSS102L miter saw delivers great power for the price you pay making it one of the top values on the market. It’s got nine standard miter stops, swinging in angles from 45 degrees on the left to 50 on the right. It’s also lightweight enough to make it portable while keeping it tethered to wall power so it sacrifices none of the power. We do have to note that dust collection is a problem in general for power saws, and this one is no different. In fact, that’s something it actually doesn’t do all that well.
Ryobi TSS102L – A Quick Look
- Perfect for DIY use
- Accurate cuts
- Great value
- Poor dust collection
Brand name: Ryobi Model: TSS102L Type: Miter saw Power type: corded Dimensions: 36.1 x 22.8 x 16.9 inches Weight: 35.8 lbs. This miter saw comes complete with precision guides and a laser to help ensure that the blade cuts exactly where the operator wants it to cut and nowhere else. An added extra to the laser system is that its power comes internally so that the operator doesn’t have to worry about switching it on and draining an internal battery by forgetting to switch it back off. That happens automatically. Once the saw is turned off, a countercurrent of electricity pulses back against the brushes. That stops them cold in their tracks, often shutting it down completely is as little as two seconds. On saws without this feature, that can take more than 10 seconds. While this adds a little wear to the motor brush, it does mean you can set up your next set of cuts more quickly. It also means that makes the saw, in general, safer to operate since there is no more dangerous miter saw than one with the blade spinning. How good is the warranty that covers this miter saw? It has a three-year manufacturer’s warranty, per Ryobi’s website. What are this miter saw’s power needs? It runs on a standard 110v wall current. What are the miter cut ranges for this saw? The range goes from 45 degrees left to 50 degrees right. A great saw for someone who just needs a miter saw on hand for occasional weekend use, Ryobi’s TSS102L is lightweight enough to take to the job while still delivering lots of power through wall current. It comes with a laser so that home hobbyists can cut with the accuracy of a professional, and a wide range of miter cuts that allow you to do practically everything you’d want to do with it. Plus, with a very competitive price, it’s a great value especially compared to other in-class competitors. Just make sure your shop vac is ready to handle the dust because that’s where this falls short. That’s not enough to skip owning it, though.
