Bosch vs DeWalt Table Saw: Which One’s Better?

- Last updated:
The differences between DeWalt and Bosch-brand table saws are not always obvious, especially when you are shopping online. If you are unsure which brand is right for you, you’ve come to the right place. We have prepared a comparison of the two brands and a couple of models so that you can find the perfect table saw.
Portability
Neither brand has a clear edge in portability. The more expensive models in both brands have wheels, while less-expensive models don’t and must be carried around. If carrying it around will cause you pain or frustration, get a wheeled model. If you don’t plan on moving your table saw around, you don’t need to worry too much about how portable it is.
Power
It will depend on the model, but in general, DeWalt table saws have more power than comparable Bosch table saws. If you need more power, are planning to work with harder woods, or get the job done quicker, then DeWalt is probably the brand for you.
Of course, you should always compare similar models across brands to ensure you’re getting the best deal.
Convenience
Both brands have areas in which they’re more convenient. DeWalt models tend to be better at dust collection and feature a broader range of compatibility with shop vacs and other dust-collection systems.
Bosch table saws make it easier to change the blades, which can be a big deal if you’re working with different kinds of materials and need to change out blades a lot. If you’re just working with the same kind of wood on every project, this won’t matter as much.
Overall
Neither brand is a clear winner over the other. Deciding between Bosch and Dewalt involves determining which features you value most in a portable table saw and which models include them.

- PRECISION: Bosch 4100 09 worksite table saw provides high precision cutting as well as efficient power with 3,650 no load RPM motor
The Bosch 4100-09 is our favorite Bosch model. It has a rolling stand that is easy to set up and takedown. It also has a slim frame when folded up, making it easy to store. The 4100-09 has one of the larger capacities for portable table saws, allowing for material widths of up to 40.5 inches.
While changing out blades on table saws can be a pain, this model features an arbor lock system designed to make it easy and fast. If you’re working on several projects requiring different blades, that feature will save you much time. It also has electronic speed control, which keeps the saw running steadily while you cut. The one downside is that it comes with a cheap miter gauge, which isn’t a big deal since most people use an aftermarket miter gauge.

The Bosch GTS1031 provides good value in a portable package. It’s light enough that it can be carried with one hand, which is useful if you move it around a lot. It also has a steel base, which helps reduce vibrations relative to the aluminum bases on most portable table saws. However, it doesn’t come with wheels.
It also has an underwhelming rip capacity of only 20 inches. If you’re not working on big pieces of wood, this won’t be a problem. If your projects require you to cut larger pieces, the GTS1031 might not be big enough for you. Overall, if you’re looking for a portable saw that won’t break the bank, the GTS1031 is an excellent choice.

- Rolling stand designed for easy set up and breakdown with excellent stability
The DEWALT DWE7491RS is our favorite DEWALT table saw. One of the significant advantages of this model is its portability. It comes with wheels, allowing you to move it from place to place without too much effort. It also has a set of folding legs, which fold up for transport and fold down when you want to use it.
This model’s 15-amp motor is strong enough to complete any job and will save you a lot of time. It also has a good dust port, which will be useful when working inside. Many users will find the table undersized, though it has an expanding rack-and-pinion system that allows for rips up to 32 inches. If you need portability and power in your table saw, you can’t go wrong with this model.

Best for the money – DEWALT DW745
- 22 kilograms unit weight and optimized footprint make this the most portable saw in its class. Shoe bevels 0 to 45 for beveled cuts
- Steel roll cage protects saw against jobsite drops and impacts, rack and pinion fence system, front and rear fence lock and large,...
- Powerful 1850 Watt motor for high performance in all applications. Max Rip To Left Of Blade 12 inch. Max Rip To Right Of Blade 20 inch
The DEWALT DW745 is the previous model’s little brother. Even though it has a smaller rip capacity, at only 20 inches, it has a 15-amp motor, just like the bigger model. So, while you won’t be able to cut pieces as big as with the larger model, you’ll be able to get them cut just as fast. The DW7456 is also designed to be moved and has a metal roll cage to help it survive accidental bumps and jostles.
It also features a tool-free guard replacement, and you can change the guard to work with whatever project you’re currently working on. The one downside is that this model comes with a cheap miter gauge, though that’s a part most people end up replacing anyway.

Conclusion
The Bosch 4100-09 is our favorite Bosch model, combining portability with easy blade changes at a great price. Likewise, the steel-framed Bosch GTS1031 provided portability and great value at the price point. We loved the wheels and the power on the DEWALT DWE7491RS, but if you need something more affordable, the DEWALT DW745 provides the same power in a smaller frame.
It’s not always easy to find the tool you need online. Hopefully, our guide has helped you determine which table saw is right for you and will help you complete projects for several years.
