Bosch vs DeWalt Table Saw: Which One’s Better?

bosch-vs-dewalt-table-saw

The differences between DeWalt and Bosch-brand table saws are not always obvious, especially when you’re shopping online. If you’re not sure which brand is right for you, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve prepared a comparison of the two brands and a couple of models so that you can find the perfect table saw.

Portability

Neither brand has a clear edge in portability. The more expensive models in both brands tend to have wheels, while less-expensive models don’t and have to be carried around. If carrying it around is something that’s going to cause you pain or frustration, get a wheeled model.

If you don’t plan on moving your table saw around much, then you don’t need to worry too much about how portable it is.

Power

It’s going to depend on the model, but in general, DeWalt table saws tend to have more power than comparable Bosch table saws. If you need more power, are planning to work with harder woods, or need to get the job done a bit quicker, then DeWalt is probably the brand that you should be looking at.

Of course, you should always compare similar models across brands to make sure that you’re getting the best deal.

Convenience

Both brands have areas in which they’re more convenient. DeWalt models tend to be better at dust collection and feature a wider range of compatibility with shop vacs and other dust-collection systems.

Bosch table saws tend to make it easier to change out the blades, which can be a big deal if you’re working with different kinds of materials and need to change out blades a lot. If you’re just working with the same kind of wood on every project, this won’t matter as much.

Overall

Neither brand is a clear winner over the other. A lot of the choice between the two will come down to what features you value most in a portable table saw, and which models you can get them on.

    • PRECISION: Bosch 4100 09 worksite table saw provides high precision cutting as well as efficient power with 3,650 no load RPM motor

The Bosch 4100-09 is our favorite Bosch model. It features excellent portability, coming with a rolling stand that is easy to both setup and takedown. When folded up, it has a slim frame, making it easy to store. It also has one of the larger capacities for portable table saws, allowing for material widths of up to 40.5”.

And while changing out blades on table saws can be a bit of a pain, this model features an arbor lock system designed to make it easy and fast. If you’re doing a lot of different projects that require different blades, that feature will save you a lot of time. It also comes with electronic speed control, which keeps the saw running at a steady speed while you cut.

The one downside is that it comes with a cheap miter gauge, which isn’t that big of a deal since most people use an aftermarket miter gauge.

The Bosch GTS1031 provides good value in a portable package. It’s light enough that it can be carried with one hand, which is useful if you’re going to be moving it around a lot. It also has a steel base, which helps damped vibrations relative to the aluminum bases that are common on portable table saws.

However, it doesn’t come with wheels, which is something you like to see on a portable table saw, meaning you’ll always have to carry it when moving it. It also has underwhelming rip capacity which only goes up to 20”. If you’re not working on big pieces of wood, this won’t ever be a problem. If your intended projects are construction-related or more industrial, then this might not be big enough for you.

Overall, if you’re looking for something portable that won’t break the bank, that you’re going to be using for small projects, you’ll get great value out of this table saw.

    • Rolling stand designed for easy set up and breakdown with excellent stability

The DEWALT DWE7491RS is our favorite DEWALT table saw.  One of the big upsides to this model is its portability. It comes with a set of wheels, allowing you to move it from place to place without too much exertion. It also has a set of folding legs, which fold up for transport, and fold down when you want to use it, ensuring you always have a platform for good cuts.

This model’s 15-amp motor is strong enough to complete any job and will save you a lot of time. It also has a good dust port, which will come in handy when you’re working inside.

Many people will find the table undersized, though it does come with an expanding rack-and-pinion system that allows for rips up to 32”. Overall, if you need portability and power in your table say, you can’t go wrong with this model.

Best for the money – DEWALT DW745

DEWALT 10-Inch Table Saw, 16-Inch Rip Capacity (DW745)
    • 22 kilograms unit weight and optimized footprint make this the most portable saw in its class. Shoe bevels 0 to 45 for beveled cuts

    • Powerful 1850 Watt motor for high performance in all applications. Max Rip To Left Of Blade 12 inch. Max Rip To Right Of Blade 20 inch

The DEWALT DW745 is the previous model’s little brother. Even though it has a smaller rip capacity, at only 20”, it has a 15-amp motor, just like the bigger model. So, while you won’t be able to cut pieces as big as with the larger model, you’ll be able to get them cut just as fast. This model is also designed to be moved and has a metal roll cage that will help it survive any accidental bumps and jostles.

This model also features tool-free guard replacement, meaning that you can change out the guard to work with whatever project you’re currently working on. That will save you a ton of time in the long run, especially if you change out your guard a lot.

The one downside is that this model comes with a cheap miter gauge, though that’s a part most people end up replacing anyway.

    Pros
    • Portability
    • Power
    Cons
    • Table size
    • Miter gauge quality

    tool dividerConclusion

The Bosch 4100-09 is our favorite Bosch model, combining portability with easy blade changes at a great price. Likewise, the steel-framed Bosch GTS1031 provided portability and great value at the price point. We loved the wheels and the power on the DEWALT DWE7491RS, though if you need something at a lower price point, the DEWALT DW745 provides the same power in a smaller frame.

It’s not always easy to find the tool you need online. Hopefully, our guide has helped you figure out which table saw is right for you and will help you complete projects for years to come.
