DeWalt and Bosch are true rivals in the world of power tools. While DeWalt is considered by many to be the king of the industry, Bosch is certainly a very worthy source of competition, which will become very apparent in today’s review.

Nine pounds is not a tremendous difference, though when you have to lug a piece of equipment around all day, it’s also not necessarily insignificant.
The reason that the Bosch has the advantage here is not its weight, but rather its design concept. Owners of the Bosch are sure to appreciate the one-handed carry handle that is designed to allow you to transport the tool the way that you would a briefcase.
It also features an onboard storage system that allows you to pack the tool up and store accessories and other work equipment within the tool.
These factors are ultimately probably going to be much more useful in terms of transporting the tool than the slightly lighter frame of the DeWalt will be.
Still, if you want the very lightest tool possible, you are going to get it with the DWE7480.
Durability
When it comes to the department of durability, both tools are more or less equally equipped. Both units feature an all-steel base that will both serve to protect them from onsite stress, and just the general wear and tear that can occur when you regularly transport a tool.
Durability is one of the most important qualities when it comes to tools that are going to be transported and/or exposed to worksite conditions so naturally, it is nice to see that you are covered with either tool.
Price
Price is the department in which the DeWalt makes up the quality deficit that it was suffering from.
With a difference in price of almost $80, the DeWalt is somewhat significantly more affordable than the Bosch.
This price discrepancy is particularly prominent when you consider how similar the DeWalt really is to the Bosch. Even though the GTS1031 is technically beating the DeWalt in most departments, the differences are so small that many shoppers may not be willing to pay more for the slightly elevated quality.
Of course, only you can decide how you would like to spend your money on this purchase. For what it is worth, if the quality and features of the Bosch did capture your attention, that tool is also fairly affordable relative to other tools of this category.

There is no easy way to clean the lock head without removing the rail.
The rack-and-pinion rail system lock can start digging into the outer rail. This will make the rail adjustment handle hard (and eventually impossible) to turn.
The throat plate lock tends to work it’s way loose making it subject to catastrophic failure if the throat plate gets caught in the saw.
This miter gauge that comes with the saw is just silly.
The non-stick painted texture on the table extends into the slots and can cause some binding with wooden rails on sled jigs.
