7 Best Inflatable Swimming Pools of 2023 – Reviews & Top Picks
Swimming pools are a bastion of summer fun. But pools are very expensive and require constant upkeep and attention. You could always use your local pool, but that requires traveling and dealing with loads of other people.
Thankfully, inflatable pools offer a convenient and inexpensive solution. You can easily inflate one in your backyard and have it set up in mere minutes. But you have to make sure that you pick a quality pool that will last an entire season, and hopefully, several.
We set out to test as many inflatable pools as we could to find the best ones to entertain your family this summer. After testing them out ourselves, we’ve written up the following seven reviews that will compare our favorites so you can skip the testing and get straight to the fun.

The 7 Best Inflatable Swimming Pools
1. Homech Family Inflatable Pool – Best Overall
Standing just under 2 feet tall and 10 feet in length, the Homech Family Inflatable Pool provides enough room for the whole family. It was our favorite overall, and it’s packed with great features. Three air chambers are filled separately, which makes the entire pool more durable. Despite the large size, the chambers fill quickly when you use an electric air pump. Unfortunately, no air pump is included, so you’ll need to purchase one separately.
The Homech inflatable pool is made from very thick material. In fact, it’s 50% thicker than most similar products on the market, making it much more durable and longer-lasting. In our experience, this pool held air better than any of the others we tested. Once inflated, we were able to leave it full of water in the backyard for days with no trouble. It’s got a large water capacity of 312 gallons, which is plenty for several children and adults to all have fun at the same time. All in all, we think this is the best inflatable pool available this year.
- Spacious enough for the whole family
- Drains very quickly
- 3 air chambers make it more durable
- 312-gallon capacity
- Will require a separate electric pump
2. Intex 57422 Kiddie Pool – Best Value
Dirt-cheap and perfect for occupying children, the Intex 57422 Kiddie Pool is our choice for best inflatable swimming pool for the money. It’s got a colorful design that kids will love and it’s large enough for several to play in it at the same time. At just 12 inches tall, there’s less risk for your children. But it’s got a diameter of nearly 5 feet, so they still have plenty of room to move around and play. Since it is on the smaller size, you can easily inflate it with a hand pump, or even by mouth if you don’t happen to have a pump available.
While this pool is a great option for the little ones, if you’re looking for a pool that adults can relax in, you’ll need to look somewhere else. This pool isn’t deep enough or large enough for adults to fit in, so it’s really just suitable for the kids. But if you need an affordable way to keep the kids occupied in the summer sun, then the Intex 57422 kiddie pool is an obvious winner.
- Colorful design for kids
- Dirt-cheap price
- Can fit several kids at once
- Can inflate with a cheap hand pump
- Not as tall as other pools we tested
- Not large enough for adults
3. Bestway H2OGO! Inflatable Family Outdoor Pool – Premium Choice
Full-size pools may be too expensive to consider adding to your backyard, but this inflatable family pool from Bestway is an inexpensive way to turn the backyard into a miniature water park for the whole family. It’s got two separate water chambers. One is very shallow for the children. The other is much larger and features a bench seat for adults to relax while the children play. In between the two water chambers is a small slide that the kids can have fun sliding and jumping on. However, it’s not the sturdiest, and the slide on ours ended up with a small tear.
Though it’s much cheaper than an actual pool, the Bestway H2OGO! is pretty expensive compared to other inflatable pools. But it’s very durable and stays inflated well, so it should be around for several seasons to entertain your family. We were happy with how quickly it inflated, making it simple and fast to setup. In the end, we think it’s worth the slightly higher price, and when you see the smiles on your kids’ faces, we think you’ll agree.
- Two separate chambers for adults and kids
- Mini-slide for children
- Inflates quickly
- Room for the whole family
- Rather pricey
- The slide isn’t very durable
4. Intex 28110NP Swimming Pool
Most inflatable pools have a limited capacity and tend to be too small to truly swim in. The Intex 28110NP steps the game up though with a massive holding capacity of 639 gallons. If your family can’t swim in that much water, then you need a permanent pool. With a water depth of 23 inches and a diameter of 8 feet, your whole family should be able to have fun in this just like an above-ground pool. Despite the massive size, it’s a very affordable product that’s much cheaper than many other inflatable pool options.
There’s not much to inflate on this pool, just a small ring around the top. Then you add water and the pool will stand itself up. It’s very easy to set up, but you need to be on a completely level surface or it won’t work right. Even when set up properly, we noticed a small amount of water leaking each day. It probably amounted to no more than a cup or two of water per day, but it was something we noticed regularly, though it didn’t have any noticeable effect on the water inside.
- Holds 639 gallons of water
- 23 inches deep
- Big enough for the whole family
- Very affordable
- Must be setup on a perfectly level surface
- Leaks a small amount of water
5. Sable Inflatable Pool
With a thick PVC hull that resists punctures, this inflatable pool from Sable should last your family for several seasons. It’s built with three individual air chambers so that it can hold more weight without the sides buckling. With an electric pump, you can inflate the whole pool in a matter of minutes, but no pump is included. Once inflated, you can fit an entire family of 5 inside of this pool. It can hold 162 gallons of water, which doesn’t make it one of the larger pools we tested, but it’s still got ample room for several children and adults to have fun simultaneously.
Though it’s durable and easy to inflate, the Sable pool doesn’t offer any standout features that set it apart from the competition. However, it’s much more expensive than similar products. We don’t think it warrants the higher price tag, which is why it’s ranked pretty low on our list. For the price, we think you’d be better off with something like the Homech pool that earned our top recommendation.
- Thick PVC hull resists punctures
- Can fit a family of five
- Separate air chambers make it more durable
- More expensive than other options
- Doesn’t include an electric pump to inflate
6. Intex 56483EP Swim Center Family Inflatable Pool
With a maximum capacity of 198 gallons of water, the Intex 56483EP Swim Center Family Inflatable Pool has plenty of room for several people inside. It’s 22 inches tall, though the water should only fill it about two-thirds of the way. This makes it perfect for several children to play in at once, or even for a couple of adults to relax in.
We noticed that this pool isn’t as durable as some of the others we tested it against. Each night it would deflate a good amount and needed refilling the next morning. Of course, it’s also dirt-cheap, so you get what you pay for. When we went to empty the water, it took a very long time, several hours. This isn’t the worst flaw an inflatable pool can have, but compared to some of the other options that drained in a matter of minutes, it does take up more of your precious time.
- Dirt-cheap pricing
- 198-gallon capacity
- Perfect height for kids
- Not as durable as other options
- Tends to deflate overnight
- Drains very slowly
7. Jilong Pentagon Inflatable Family Pool
At first, we had high hopes for this inflatable family pool from Jilong. It’s a bit smaller than some of the other pools we tested, and it’s even smaller than the dimensions it’s advertised as having. We can deal with the smaller-than-expected size, but there were other flaws that we couldn’t get over as easily. For instance, this pool tends to slowly deflate, flattening itself out over a few days. Luckily, a repair patch is included that will allow you to fix any holes or rips. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find any holes to repair, even though our pool was constantly leaking air. If it had lasted longer and stayed inflated, the Jilong Pentagon Pool may have earned a much higher position on our list.
- Affordably priced
- Includes a repair patch
- Smaller size
- Slowly deflates over a few days
- Smaller than advertised
Buyer’s Guide – Choosing the Best Inflatable Pool
If you’re still having a hard time deciding which pool would be the best choice for you and your family, then hopefully this short buyer’s guide will help. We’re going to discuss some of the most important considerations that you keep in mind when deciding on which inflatable pool to purchase. Each family has different needs, so knowing exactly what you want to get out of your pool will help you narrow down the choices to the ones that will fit your situation the best.
Who is going to be using your pool primarily? Are just the children going to be playing in it, or is the whole family going to take part? Or perhaps you don’t even have children and it’s just for adults to relax in?
Many of the pools we reviewed on this list have room for several children and adults simultaneously. These pools have water capacities that range from about 200 gallons to over 600 gallons. Some of them even had separate chambers for adults and children to be in so that the kids can have fun without disturbing the adults who are relaxing.
Some of the pools we tested seemed to need near-constant attention if we wanted to leave them out for multiple days of use. If you don’t like the idea of inflating your pool a little each day, then you’ll want to look for one with proven durability. None of these pools will last through years of summer fun, but some of the best ones should make it through several seasons, or at least an entire summer. Just don’t let your dog jump in! Those claws will certainly reduce your inflatable pool’s lifespan significantly!
Just because these inflatable pools are non-permanent, doesn’t mean that they’re all dirt-cheap. Some of them are, but others are still quite expensive, especially for a product that won’t last more than a few seasons at most. But it may be worth it to spend a bit more on your inflatable pool if your family is going to put it to serious use. If you’re only going to use the pool sporadically throughout the summer months, then it may not be worth the investment and a cheaper pool will be sufficient for your needs. But if your family is going to use the pool every day, then the number of hours of entertainment that a pool will provide is worth spending a little bit more on. Especially for families with multiple children, an inflatable pool can be a great way to provide many hours of fun to occupy all of your kids simultaneously. And if the pool you pick is large enough, you can even get a little bit of quality relaxation time while your kids are entertaining themselves.
We had a blast testing out all of these inflatable pools and so did our children. You’ve already read our reviews comparing seven of our favorites, but which ones got the stamp of approval from our testers and our kids? Three of them managed to earn our recommendations, and our favorite overall was the Homech Family Inflatable Pool. With a 312-gallon capacity, it has plenty of room for the whole family. Most importantly, it’s durable and will withstand an entire summer of fun in the sun.
For the best value, we recommend the Intex Kiddie Pool. It’s pretty small, but it’s dirt-cheap, quick to inflate, and can provide several kids with hours of fun each day. Finally, if you want a premium inflatable pool that will entertain the entire family, we suggest the Bestway H2OGO! Inflatable Family Outdoor Pool. It’s got two separate swimming chambers; a shallower one for kids and a deeper one with a bench for adults. A small slide lets your kids play and enjoy the shallow side while the adults relax and oversee in the cool water. It sets up quickly, lasts a long time, and is sure to provide your family with hours of fun.
