6 Best Hot Tub Vacuums in 2024 – Reviews & Top Picks

Best Hot Tub Vacuums 2020

Best Hot Tub Vacuums 2020 Even though your hot tub spends most of its life covered and protected from the outside world, debris and sediment still make their way inside. Sometimes, we drag it in ourselves, unknowingly attached to the bottoms of our feet.

Other times, unwanted residents may fall in from overhanging trees while the hot tub is in use. But regardless of how it gets there, we want to remove all of these little contaminants so they don’t get sucked into our pump system. That’s where a good hot tub vacuum can be a lifesaver.

We wanted to find the best ones and the best values, so we tested as many of them as possible. The following eight reviews of the best spa vacuums will compare what we learned through our testing so that you can use the information we gathered to select the ideal vacuum.

  • The 6 Best Hot Tub Vacuums

    1. Poolmaster 28009 Magic Jet Hot Tub Vacuum — Best Value

Poolmaster 28009 Magic Jet Hot Tub Vacuum

The Poolmaster Magic Jet Hot Tub Vacuum provides several ways to suck the debris from your hot tub, and we think it’s the best hot tub vacuum for the money. It’s tiny enough to easily fit into your hot tub’s corners, nooks, and crannies, but it’s powerful enough to suck up all of the mess and leave you with a beautifully clean tub.

It also works equally well in shallow or deep waters. It’s very affordably priced, and a six-piece pole is even included to increase your reach. Unfortunately, at just four and a half feet, the pole isn’t quite long enough to comfortably reach the hot tub bottom from all angles. There are multiple ways to use the Poolmaster Hot Tub Vacuum.

It comes with a collection bag to attach to the top of the device. Then, you hook a garden hose to the bottom outlet of the Magic Jet, and the water pressure will force all the debris on the hot tub floor to be sucked into the bag. Alternatively, a vacuum connection lets you hook a vacuum to the device for the ultimate hot tub suction cleaning.

    Pros
    • Hooks up to vacuum or garden hose
    • Small size works in shallow waters
    • Affordably priced
    Cons
    • Pole is too short

    2. Pool Blaster NE4382 Max Li Hot Tub Vacuum — Premium Choice

    Pool Blaster NE4382 Max Li

If you’re looking for something a bit more high-tech, the Pool Blaster Max Li Pool and Spa Cleaner, our premium pick for the best hot tub vacuum, may be your solution. It is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery that has impressive suction power that will help you get your hot tub cleaner than ever before.

Once charged, it will run for up to 60 minutes, so you should have plenty of time to vacuum your hot tub thoroughly. The filter will catch the mess, and you can wash it and reuse it multiple times. Any standard pool pole can be attached to the Pool Blaster to improve your reach, but the pole isn’t included.

Once we attached a pole, we were impressed with how quickly the vacuum cleared out our hot tub. It took minimal effort or time to get a clean tub. But we noticed that very fine silt and sand came through the collection bag and ended up in the hot tub. Other than that, we were delighted with the performance of this device, which is to be expected for such an expensive piece of pool equipment.

    Pros
    • Rechargeable battery
    • Powerful suction
    • Fits on any standard pool pole
    Cons
    • Fine silt goes through the bag
    • Doesn’t include pole

    3. PoolSupplyTown PST-463 Mini Jet Vac  Spa Vacuum

PoolSupplyTown PST-463 Mini Jet Vac Vacuum

If you’re looking for the cheapest hot tub vacuum, the PoolSupplyTown Mini Jet Vac could be it. It’s a dirt-cheap device that makes cleaning out your hot tub very easy. It attaches to any standard pool pole, but no pole is included, so you’ll need one of your own. The device runs on water power from a regular garden hose that you attach to the back.

The water pressure forces debris up into the vacuum. Then it’s forced through a collection bag that allows the water to escape back into the hot tub, but all the debris and dirt remains trapped for removal. No assembly instructions were included, so it took a few minutes to get this device working.

But once it was going, we were impressed with just how strong the suction was. Dirt and sand were flying into the vacuum. Removal was very simple since it was all trapped in the collection bag. Overall, this was one of our favorite inexpensive hot tub vacuums, but it was outmatched by the versatility of the Poolmaster Magic Jet in the third position on our list.

    Pros
    • Affordably priced
    • Attaches to a standard garden hose
    • Can be attached to a pole
    • Powerful suction
    Cons
    • No pole included
    • No assembly instructions

    4. Intex 28620E Handheld Rechargeable Hot Tub Vacuum

    Intex 28620E Handheld Rechargeable Vacuum

The Intex Handheld Vacuum is an electric tool free of the hassles of cords and batteries because it’s rechargeable by a USB cord. Once charged, it runs for 50 minutes, just enough time to thoroughly vacuum out your hot tub. It is handheld, so you can jump in and do the whole tub by hand if you prefer. But a telescoping aluminum shaft is also included to add 94 inches of additional reach when fully extended.

The Intex vacuum effectively removed dirt and debris from the bottom of the tub. However, even though it’s electric, it still must be fully submerged to work. When the device leaves the water, it shuts off. It was frustrating to try to vacuum the steps of the hot tub when the ports kept coming out of the water, causing the machine to shut off.

It also tended to kick up some of the debris in the water, making it difficult to collect and clean. However, it is one of the more affordable solutions. Ultimately, it’s a decent product, but better options are available.

    Pros
    • Auto-shutoff when not in water
    • Can be handheld or attached to shaft
    • Includes 94” shaft
    Cons
    • Must be fully submerged to work
    • Only runs for 50 minutes on a charge

    5. POOL BLASTER 20000CL Water Tech Catfish

POOL BLASTER 20000CL Water Tech Catfish

As a rechargeable, battery-powered underwater vacuum, the POOL BLASTER Water Tech Catfish can make it easy to vacuum the dirt, sand, and debris from your hot tub. It has a powerful suction that will run for 45 minutes on a full charge. That’s not as impressive as the 1-hour and more run time that we’ve seen from other models, but it should be sufficient for vacuuming a hot tub.

Since it’s cordless, the POOL BLASTER is easy to maneuver and move around. It will attach to a standard pool pole, but unfortunately, it doesn’t come with one. It was powerful enough to pull the dirt out of the corners but also managed to kick some of it up and send it swirling through the water.

You can remove the vacuum head to expose a cone head for tighter areas. This is one of the more costly hot tub vacuums, but it doesn’t include any extra features that warrant the higher price.

    Pros
    • Cordless design
    • Powerful suction
    Cons
    • Doesn’t include pole
    • 45-minute run time on a charge
    • More expensive than other options

    6. Kokido Wanda Electric Pool and Spa Vacuum

Kokido Wanda Electric Pool and Spa Vacuum

With a telescoping handle that will allow you to reach up to 6 feet when fully extended, the Kokido Wanda Electric Pool and Spa Vacuum seemed like a great product. It’s simple to use and easy to store, but it didn’t live up to our expectations. This device runs on eight AA batteries. That’s quite a few batteries, so you better stock up if you use this vacuum to keep your hot tub clean.

Unfortunately, the batteries don’t last very long, and we ended up replacing them after every couple of cleanings. We could get over the short battery life if this vacuum was a superb performer. However, it was rather lackluster when it came time for the cleanup. The suction that the Kokido vacuum provides is mediocre at best.

It wasn’t able to pick up anything larger than a dirt particle. Tiny pebbles were left untouched at the bottom of the hot tub. We wanted to like this vacuum, but its poor performance will leave it stuck at the bottom of our list like those little pebbles were stuck at the bottom of our hot tub.

    Pros
    • Long handle for improved reach
    Cons
    • Requires 8 AA batteries
    • Short battery life
    • Weak suction

    In Conclusion

Every time you get into your hot tub, you’re likely dragging along some unwanted contaminants on the bottoms of your feet. Dirt, sand, pebbles, sticks, and more all make their way to the bottom of your hot tub where they collect. We’ve been searching for the best hot tub vacuums to handle this ever-growing mess. While testing them to write these reviews, two stuck out as top performers.

The Poolmaster Magic Jet Hot Tub Vacuum was our pick for the best spa vacuum for the money. It’s small enough to fit into every nook and cranny of your hot tub but versatile and powerful enough to clean it completely. Finally, the Pool Blaster Max Li is our premium choice recommendation. It has powerful suction fueled by a rechargeable battery, and you can mount it on any pool pole to increase your reach.
